Hi Marissa, Great to hear from you. I love you and your work. I love your style of painting and your subject matter. The bright bold colours and your landscapes of this beautiful country especially the wilderness. I love watching your on line videos- your personality and your voice add to my enjoyment. You are encouraging and kind which gives me the encouragement to try things. You are a wonderful teacher. I love hearing how you start a painting. That is important to me as I hope to be able to paint eventually without a tutorial, using my own photos. I am lucky enough to have attended a class in person (before Covid) and I really enjoyed it. I wish you continued success and look forward to your next on line session

Hi Marissa, What makes me feel a connection to your artwork is how you capture nature. Your paintings are breathtakingly beautiful, rich in colours, composition and alive with life, bringing me into a soothing, peaceful “moment in time” when all is right with the world. I especially feel a deep connection to your forest landscapes which fill my heart with joyful memories of my childhood at the cottage. The many walks in the woods, and swimming and canoeing on the lake. I have always felt a deep connection with nature. Being surrounded by nature feeds my soul and brings an inner peace and joy like no other. Your artwork evokes that same emotion that speaks to my soul. Gazing upon your artwork is witnessing God through your eyes. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
Sincerely,
Linda Millington
I found an old note book the other day and in it were the notes I had taken at the first workshop I took with you at Curry’s! The date was Feb 11/11, almost exactly 10 years ago!! It was abstract and you taught us how to use the different Golden mediums. So in answer to your question: ‘what is it about my artwork that brings you enjoyment or makes you feel a connection to it’ - it is that you paint the scenery that I love and of a part of the world that I love! Your style and colour choices create such excitement and joy. Your work is powerful and it ‘vibrates’!! Your use of the palette knife adds an impressionistic quality that invites me to wander in and see the magic!
I am so happy that I am back at your studio again - it has made me paint more and my goal is to become less fearful and more relaxed in my work!! I feel happy and the comradery is so important to me especially during this very difficult time.
All the best with your new website!
See you soon!!
Lots of love Julia xx
Hi Marissa,
I learned so much about abstract painting from you. But I think the best thing was “you” as you always had a smile and were so positive about whatever we did. You also shared so many techniques and little ideas that would make a painting look so unique. As I was saying to you all the paintings that I did with you and there are three are hanging on my walls. After taking those courses with you I continue to do abstract work and my passion is flowers. I can’t seem to get past that and have decided that’s how it is and that’s who I am. I’ve also decided to use mixed media most of the time in my work. I hope you’ll be able to enjoy this long weekend. This is when art certainly gets us into a happier place.
Stay safe,
Nancy
Hi Marisa,
Your style of art is so real but you take it to another level. You have a free artistic style but with a combination of various artistic techniques.
I love your true passion for nature and your beautiful vocabulary of colour and temperature that you express on canvas.
Your artistic technique draws the viewer into the picture that shares your vision.
Thank you so much for a wonderful experience as one of your students.
Sincerely,

Hi Marissa,
I want to thank you for the workshop, I have enjoyed it so much all your little nuances that you make with the mixing and colour are great. I thought mine was almost finished but after going over your last Video I need to add more. I will try to finish this week and send you a picture, promise not to overwork it .
I was distracted last week when Alan bought a new tablet then a new phone, and you know what that means lots of tec support!!!
I realize that I need to learn more about painting trees I have always had difficulty with them, so this summer I’m going to work on mastering trees, your class has given me great insight on how to do this. Thank you Eileen
